Bell Hooks

Synopsis

A classic work of feminist scholarship, Ain't I a Woman has become a must-read for all those interested in the nature of black womanhood. Examining the impact of sexism on black women during slavery, the devaluation of black womanhood, black male sexism, racism among feminists, and the black woman's involvement with feminism, hooks attempts to move us beyond racist and sexist assumptions. The result is nothing short of groundbreaking, giving this book a critical place on every feminist scholar's bookshelf.

Sinopse

Nobody's Home, propose an aesthetic trip to an everyday object that goes unnoticed. Intend to contribute to the appreciation and rediscovery of the doorbells that exist in the entrances of new, old, and abandoned houses and buildings, and which, discreet in their
function, are or have always been an essential part of the beginning of something.
This photographic record aims to be a repository of the beauty with the intention of confronting the old models with the modernized and standard models, as well as recovering from our memories the ringtones that used to leave us suspended, on the doorstep, waiting for a response.

We, The Family

Luciane Valles

Synopsis

The collection “We, The Family” shows us images that reflect family moments in which complicity goes hand in hand with light, color, and framing. Whether they are family portraits or discreet observations of a newborn, the “lens” always gives us a story. Not necessarily a beautiful one, a bedtime story or a fairy tale, but certainly a story that was lived, in which every moment is a unique moment that deserves
to be eternalized. The collection offers, through the eyes of different carefully selected photographers, different approaches to the theme “family”, centered mainly on childhood, both in places of daily living and in unexpected incursions into places of regular or occasional passage.

Synopsis

The collection “One City. One Name” shows us the world and its cities through the eyes of several photographers with different approaches and visual languages. It intends to be a show of unique visions that reflect not only the city and its inhabitants, but also the personality of the one who observes and captures them in an image. The personal and professional background of each of these photographers influences their vision and shapes the books, showing the cities in a non-traditional way, without tourist or more obvious clichés. The approach may be critical or compliant, but it is never ordinary, and it will help us look at different places in an exclusive way. These are world travels in the arms of beauty and uniqueness.

No color? No Fun

Tiago Galo

Synopsis

The collection “No Color? No Fun” is a tribute to contemporary illustration with a special focus on the use of color as a key element of the illustrated object. Color, for these artists, is not merely a secondary observer, but rather a leading actor that is strongly present. It partners
with the traits that create characters, frames, and landscapes. Color does not exist in a disguised way, and it helps to create differentiation, to convey fun and drama. High contrast and reduced palettes are not impediments to showing personality and uniqueness. We hope that you find on this set of pages and authors the values that we consider fundamental for a good illustration: technique, surprise, and beauty.

Sinopse

Max Stirner

Synopsis

Credited with influencing the philosophies of Nietzsche and Ayn Rand and the development of libertarianism and existentialism, this prophetic 1844 work challenges the very notion of a common good as the driving force of civilization. By examining the role of the human ego, author Max Stirner chronicles the battle of the individual against the collective — showing how, throughout history, the latter invariably leads to oppression.
Stirner begins with a study of the individual ego and then traces its subjugation from ancient times to the nineteenth century. Nothing escapes his indictment: the ancient philosophers, Christianity, monarchism, the bourgeois state; all have fettered individuals with laws, morality, and obligations. Revolutions expunge one evil only to replace it with another, and Stirner predicted — years before the publication of Marx's Manifesto — that socialism would climax in the ultimate totalitarian state.
For students of political science and philosophy, this book is essential reading. For those concerned about the encroachment of authority upon individual liberty, Stirner articulates a philosophy that remains unsurpassed in its scope.
