Distant Relatives: The Lisbon Chapter
An artistic collaboration between Dotmo & fellow artists
Although it might appear that way, Distant Relatives is not a solo photography exhibit per se; both in its intent and process, it is to be regarded as a collaborative group exhibit. The final works exhibited represent an artistic exchange between photographer Dotmo and a curated group of artists, local and international, including contemporary US artists Meth Fountain, Luis Nava, and graffiti artist Click Clack; Dallas based illustrator Ricardo Oviedo; and Portugal’s very own Kruella d’Enfer, Mariana Martins, Bernardo Pena, Gonçalo Constanza and Pedro Petiz.
Dotmo’s composite work – shot on 35mm and for the most part developed and printed using analog methods – was subsequently revisited and interpreted by each artist using their respective mediums. The techniques applied by the different artist’s span from screen-printing and sewing, to painting and poetry.
Distant Relatives is an ongoing series which has been exhibited internationally, most recently in Brooklyn, New York. This showing at Lx Factory, Dotmo’s first exhibit in Lisbon, marks its 5th collaborative chapter. See you there!
